In this complete guide, I want to cover all you need to know to use detox drinks for drug test success.
It’s not just about using the best cleansing drinks out there. It’s about using them properly. It’s about preparing your body, and understanding how they work.
You also need to know when detox drinks are the best choice. Sometimes they really aren’t, because they have a higher failure rate than fake urine. But in terms of ease of use and not getting caught, they probably offer a great chance of passing a urine drug test.
So let’s spend the next five minutes talking you through everything you need to know to use high-quality detox drinks to move the odds of passing a test significantly in your favor.
When Would You Use A Drug Detox Drink & When Is It A Bad Strategy?
Let me start by saying that if the drug test is unsupervised then fake urine is a far better option than a detox drink, simply because high-quality fake urine has a higher chance of passing.
An unsupervised drug test is where somebody gives you the sample cup and you wander off behind a screen, or even into a separate room, to submit your sample.
So there’s very little danger of getting caught submitting a fake urine sample. However, some people don’t want the risk of trying to smuggle it in, or are nervous about trying to submit a fake urine sample under pressure.
Also, if it’s a supervised/observed drug test (directly or indirectly observed), then fake urine is an incredibly risky strategy and detox drinks are pretty much your only option.
Overall, you should therefore use a high-quality detox drink if you don’t want the risk of getting searched and having a fake sample found, or you are facing some level of observed drug test.
How Detox Drinks Work In Your Body
There’s a huge misconception about drug detox drinks. Many people think that they permanently detoxify your body. That’s completely untrue. There’s no substance on earth that can drag all the toxins out of your body like that.
A detox drink is actually a masking agent. It temporarily ensures that your urine is free of toxins and appears balanced.
Here’s what a good quality detox drink actually needs to do:
- Detox drink has to contain ingredients that enhance the flushing out of drug toxins. Although water will also do this, it won’t do this to that same efficiency level as a detox drink containing ingredients that help to draw toxins out.
- A detox drink has to be able to flush your body out, but also it must not leave your urine diluted. So good quality detox drink will contain several key things found in human urine in high quantities. Because of the excess, your body will pass them through as waste in the right proportions, meaning your urine is fresh and balanced.
- The detox drink also has to contain agents that ensure your urine looks natural. If it’s too diluted then it will appear pale and to an experienced eye is obviously adulterated.
As I’ve just said though, a detox drink isn’t permanent. That’s a crucial point to understand. When you drink it, the liquid will flush out all of the toxins that are heading toward your bladder. As in those being processed in the kidneys, through the bladder, and the urinary tract.
The flood of liquid then starts to refill your bladder at the same time, but in a balanced way and toxin-free.
IMPORTANT: Detox Drinks Are Not Permanent!
When fresh toxins that hadn’t reached your kidneys at the point you consume the detox drink hit them, then you will start to process fresh toxins that will eventually appear in your urine again.
Sometimes this takes several hours, sometimes only a couple of hours. So it’s a temporary benefit, and your window of opportunity for submitting a clean sample after consuming a detox drink is around 2 – 5 hours before you run a huge risk of your sample containing drug metabolites again.
It’s impossible to tell you the exact amount of time, because everyone’s body is different, and the number of toxins you have in your body will also be individual.
Tips For Maximizing Your Chances Of Passing A Drug Test With A Detox Drink
If you use a good-quality detox drink and follow all the tips below, you’ll have about a 90% chance of passing a drug test within a few hours of finishing the process.
If you don’t follow the tips below, you don’t use a high-quality detox drink, or you submit your sample a long time after you have consumed the drink, then that will drop dramatically. It’s exactly for those reasons on their own, or combined, that so many people say “I failed, detox drinks don’t work!”.
It’s not actually true. It’s mostly people’s ignorance and misconceptions that fail the test, not the detox drink.
Here are my top tips for passing a drug test using a detox drink:
- Make sure that you abstain from all toxins for as long as you can before your test. That means no drugs, no alcohol, and unless essential, no medications. The idea is that you are putting less in your body so it can work at eradicating toxins as fast as optimally possible.
- As soon as you know you could face a drug test, as well as stopping using illegal substances, you should detoxify. That means living well. Exercise, sweat, eat well and drink plenty of water.
- During your preliminary detoxification, for at least 48 hours before your test, you should use pre-rid pills. Toxin Rid is the best on the market. They even sell a 24-hour course if you can only manage a day. If you can manage at least 48 hours, preferably longer, that will massively enhance the number of toxins that flood out of your body prior to your test.
- On the day of your test don’t eat anything within two hours of the time you will take the detox drink. In fact, I would say four hours if possible. An empty stomach means the detox drink will get to work faster and more efficiently.
- On the day of your test don’t drink too much water once you start the process prior to your test. You don’t want to dilute your sample. Sips of water after you have consumed the detox drink are fine, but no more.
- Make sure that once you’ve finished consuming the detox drink, you head to the test center as quickly as possible. The longer the delay, the more likely fresh toxins are to appear in your urine.
- Always get your hands on several home drug test kits along with your detox drink. Make sure you take one 60 minutes after you have consumed a drink to check you are clean.
My Experiences Experimenting With & Using Drug Detox Drinks
I’ve tested most of the brands out there to see how good they are. Through research I understand the chemicals/ingredients in them and which ones are crucial, and which ones are just filler ingredients.
I’m a regular weed smoker, so I am always going to fail a drug test.
What I do is abstain for 24 hours prior to testing a drink. I won’t take pre-rid pills though, because I want to see the potency of the drink alone. Then I follow the process is laid out on the side of the bottle. After that, I will do a home drug test kit 60 minutes after completing the consumption process. Then an hour later, and an hour after that.
I’m telling you, the crap detox drinks don’t pass any of those three home drug test kits.
Plus, I passed real drug tests for pre-employment with detox drinks. So I know what works in reality as well as at home.
In both cases, I was pretty sure they would be unsupervised as usual, but because of the level of employment, I wanted to make sure. Sometimes, for the more involved jobs, and in certain industries, you can face supervised drug testing, or you could be more thoroughly searched.
I passed both tests using detox drinks, following the instructions and top tips I’ve laid out here.
I also know other people who have passed a drug test using detox drinks. So they definitely do work, but you have to make sure you use them right.
So Do Detox Drinks Work For Drug Test Success?
Do detox drinks work? Undoubtedly!
However, only if you use them correctly, and only if you submit your sample within the small window of opportunity granted to you. They won’t work as a permanent detoxification product, and they won’t work if you keep taking the drugs.
You can enhance your chances of passing by following all of the tips I’ve laid out here, and then getting to the test center as quickly as possible.
Detox Drinks & Online Stores To Avoid
Let’s talk tools of the trade now. I’ve tested probably a dozen detox drinks over the years, and I’ve used 2 to pass real drug tests. Let’s talk about the places you shouldn’t buy detox drinks from.
Here are the places that you really should avoid:
- Vitamin shoppe
Now that list is not exhaustive, it’s just the main places people based in the USA buy things like that from.
Almost universally, they sell crap. Really poor quality detox pills and detox drinks that don’t work either at all, or for anything other than a short-term general detox.
To pass a drug test you need potent and targeted products.
Let’s now talk about the brands which don’t work. These are the ones I tested and found that they simply do not ever pass home drug test. I also research them online, and I found huge problems with fake reviews and a high reported failure rate.
On top of that, the ingredients just aren’t concentrated, balanced, or potent enough. Some of the detoxes drinks out there are little more than flavored water sold at high prices to scam you.
These are the brands I would avoid:
That list isn’t exhaustive, but it’s all of the ones you will mainly come across on the general marketplace sites. None of them are good quality and should be avoided.
The worst combo to look for is THC detox drinks Walmart options. There are no good detox drinks at Walmart, and there are no specialist THC detox drinks at all.
If you see anything claiming to be a specialist THC detox drink, avoid it. Good quality detox drinks will work for any type of toxin.
I’ll also just mention Ultra Eliminex here. It’s a drink that I tested and it worked. It had great reviews, and I was happy to recommend it. In the past year, I’ve noticed an increase in people saying they failed to use it. I tested it again, and I failed.
Comparing the ingredients, it appears they have slightly changed, and the balance has been altered. For me, it feels like the Ultra Eliminex has been made less potent, and therefore I can no longer trust it or recommend it is highly (especially as it’s the most expensive drink on the market). It could work, but for me, it’s not the best option anymore.
Best Cleansing Drinks Reviewed
Now I’ve told you about the bad, let’s talk about the good. These are the best cleansing drinks on the market.
I make that claim under the following criteria:
- I’ve used them to pass real drug tests
- I have friends/people I trust you have
- I’ve tested them using home drug test kits
- Online feedback is positive and ongoing
Rescue Cleanse is a detox drink that’s been around for a long time (25 years!). Made by Test Negative, it’s my “go to” detox drink.
Although it’s been around for a long time, don’t be fooled by that. Its formula has been tweaked several times over the years. I know, because I’ve tracked the changes.
The instructions for using Rescue Cleanse are very straightforward:
- Detoxify for at least 24 hours before the test day (48 hours recommended)
- Don’t eat for 4 hours before you drink it
- Drink the bottle for about 30 minutes
- during the next 60 minutes urinate as often as possible
Doing all that will give you a “clear zone” of up to 5 hours. In my experience, it’s closer to 3 hours, but it will depend on your physiology, and the number of toxins you currently have in your body.
Overall though, Rescue Cleanse is a tried and trusted detox drink that has a long track record in passing urine drug tests. You can purchase it from Test negative.
It’s probably a little surprising that there are only two detox drinks I recommend. But most of them are just awful, as I’ve already explained.
Even Mega Clean isn’t as good as Rescue Cleanse on its own. The formula just isn’t as potent. However, using the combo deal I’m now going to tell you about, it can be more potent Rescue Cleanse.
If you buy it from Test Clear, you can get Mega Clean with six Toxin Rid pre-rid pills bundled in free. That will give you a potent 24-hour detox.
The instructions are the same as for Rescue Cleanse, apart from you having to refill the bottle with water and drink that after the actual detox drink. So overall, there’s more liquid to consume.
Rescue Cleanse currently retails at $55, while Mega clean with the free pills is $69. Overall, more expensive, but the combo does give you a slightly more potent end result.
Alternative Ways To Pass A Urine Drug Test
Whatever type of urine test you are facing, a good quality detox drink offers a fantastic chance of passing.
To stand the best chance though, you have to pick the right detox drinks, and follow the top tips I’ve outlined in this guide. As I mentioned at the start, the best way to actually pass an unsupervised urine sample drug test is to use fake urine.
There’s no window of opportunity you have to submit your sample within due to toxins reappearing in your urine. It’s just less of a gamble.
If a good quality detox drink stands around 90% chance of passing a drug test, then it’s 99% with good quality fake urine.
Sub Solution is the brand I would recommend. A powder you mix with filtered water once reconstituted it appears very close to how real urine is.
Sub Solution contains 14 chemicals found in real urine and is perfectly balanced as well. Annually updated, it’s the best formula on the market.
Plus, it comes with heat activator powder. No messing around with microwave ovens or heat pads, you just tap in the heat activator powder just before you need to use the sample and it will raise the temperature. You can purchase it from the manufacturer for $85.
So overall, a detox drink is the less risky way in terms of getting caught, but slightly riskier in terms of your overall percentage chance of passing, in comparison to using high-quality fake urine.
But stick to the tips I’ve told you, and stick to using Rescue Cleanse or Mega Clean (with the pre-rid pills) and you’ll still stand an incredible chance of passing.
