John W. Rownd has been named vice president of sales at Consumer Health Technologies Inc. Rownd will focus on the health plans/payers and financial institutions. He joins CHT from Canopy Financial, where he was vice president of client relationships, then senior vice president of bank solutions, focusing on the financial services client vertical, including all aspects of client contact from sales to operations.


Evan Falchuk, president and chief operating officer at Best Doctors Inc., received the 2009 Workers’ Compensation Notable People Award. In the workers’ compensation field, the Best Doctors approach offers expert medical consultation services that help carriers and employers ensure that their injured workers are receiving the right care. Gregg Waldon has been named chief financial officer and Glen Gunderson chief business officer at RedBrick Health. Waldon will oversee finance, investor relations, administration, and human resources at RedBrick Health. He has 25 years of finance and accounting experience that includes driving significant revenue growth over short periods of time; raising capital, including leading multiple initial public stock offerings; managing publicly traded companies; and executing strategic mergers and acquisitions. Gunderson will direct sales, business development, client services and program delivery. He has 20 years’ experience in sales, marketing, operations, and product management, with significant category experience in health care, wellness, loyalty/affinity, and rewards.


Al Curnow has joined Companion Life Insurance Co. as director of group marketing for the northeastern region of the United States. Curnow, a 23-year veteran of the employee benefits industry, will specialize in the sale and marketing of Companion Life products through general agents, brokers, and specialty distribution systems. His primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining effective working relationships, conducting product training, and providing fast and effective service.


Lockton Southeast added Veronica Corkan to its team of benefits experts as vice president and unit manager in Atlanta. She previously served as a senior health and welfare consultant at Towers Perrin. Corkan has more than 20 years of experience consulting in employee group benefits and has worked with Fortune 1000 and middle market clients. She is an expert in strategy development, plan management, benefit design and pricing, procurements, and medical and dental network evaluation. She has worked in a broad array of industries, most recently in health care, high tech, chemicals, and manufacturing.

Bryan Davis has joined the employee benefits practice in Lockton Companies’ San Diego office as vice president and senior consultant. Davis will serve as a liaison between clients and the Lockton benefits team, responsible for managing client relationships and client services delivery. He brings more than 15 years of experience in the health care industry. Prior to joining Lockton, Davis served as the western region vice president for UnitedHealth Group’s wellness company, Optum, where he led the sales and service for his region.

O’Brien McMahon has joined the Chicago office at Lockton Companies as a producer. McMahon’s focus is on creating, implementing, and maintaining strategic and innovative employee benefits programs for middle-market client companies and organizations. Prior to joining Lockton, McMahon specialized in commercial real estate tenant representation at Newmark Knight Frank, working with large national and international companies to evaluate space requirements and negotiate leases.

Lockton Dunning Benefits announced the appointment of Sheri Pixley to the newly created position of executive vice president and practice leader of the Dallas-based health and welfare practice. This new role was designed to lead the growing team of associates directly servicing clients in the ongoing pursuit of superior client service, clear accountability and consistent innovation. Pixley has been involved in consulting with employers on employee benefit programs for 28 years. She joined Lockton Dunning Benefits in 1992 as a consultant and has held various positions of increasing responsibility over the past 18 years.

Thomas J. Schaffler has been promoted to president of Lockton Companies’ Chicago employee benefits practice. Schaffler joined Lockton more than 10 years ago as executive vice president and producer and serves on the Chicago executive committee. He is also a member of the Lockton Benefits Group executive committee.

David Bachrach, a 23-year employee benefits insurance veteran, has joined Lockton in the insurance broker’s northeast operation in New York City. As senior vice president, Bachrach will expand the firm’s reach in providing solutions for employer-sponsored group benefits. Bachrach served more than 20 years as chairman/ CEO of Bachrach and Associates Inc., of Ledgewood, NJ. There, he specialized in midmarket organizations with 50 to 5,000 employees.


Henry Loubet, chief strategy officer for Keenan Associates, has been selected to join the editorial board of Payers & Providers, the premier weekly publication covering health care business and policy news in California. Keenan is the largest privately held insurance brokerage and consulting firm in California. Payers & Providers delivers in-depth industry coverage, breaking news, and a lively Opinion section for a weekly audience of more than 3,000 top hospital, health plan, and nonprofit executives throughout California.


Derek Aldridge joined the Segal Company as a vice president, senior consultant, and leader of the company’s communications practice in the Midwest. Aldridge has 25 years of experience as a communications consultant and has worked for several major consulting firms in a communications practice leadership role.

Brett hazen, vice president at Segal Advisors Inc., has relocated to Houston from Cleveland. The move gives Segal a larger presence in Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.
