First HSA announced an agreement with EmblemHealth to provide HSA services for its high-deductible health plans. First HSA will administer health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, and health reimbursement arrangements for members of EmblemHealth EPO and PPO consumer directed products. 


The Alcott Group has been named the professional employer organization for MTS Travel, a Ephrata, PA-based provider of church, mission, relief, and development travel services. Alcott will be providing MTS Travel with its comprehensive Human Resources services including: payroll and tax administration, employee benefits design and administration, regulatory compliance, and value-added employee services. These services will be provided to MTS Travel’s 120 employees in 13 states. 


SHPS received nine awards for its health care communications in the 2009 National Health Information Awards program. SHPS received a gold award for its Nourish: CareWise Personal Wellness Program workbook for nutrition. Bronze awards were given for Shine: Carewise Personal Wellness Program workbook for predisease and Journey: CareWise Personal Wellness Program. Bronze awards were also given to its nurse line communications, CareWise Guide: Self-Care From Head To Toe book and a client-specific, cobranded new member kit. In addition, the CareWise Personal Wellness Program earned merit awards for its weight management program, exercise program, and awareness poster. 


Lockton Companies, a private insurance broker, is offering insights on the impact of health reform through its newly formed Lockton Health Reform Advisory Practice. Lockton’s new team provides employers with information, advice, and practical approaches as they respond to health reform legislation and understand impact on their employees and businesses. Lockton’s emerging health reform advisory practice areas include: compliance services, health risk management, HR integration strategies, technology solutions, actuarial services, and communications consulting. 


Flexible Benefit Service Corp. launches its completely redesigned health savings account product, FlexHSA. The new FlexHSA offers many enhanced tools and resources, including: a new website at www.flexhsa.com, improved online access and banking, the FlexMoney MasterCard debit card, ClaimsVault, calculators, and decision-support tools. Additionally, FlexHSA deposits will be held by a new financial holding company, which will provide enhanced bank account services and security. The new FlexHSA also offers an employer-based model that enables employers to integrate HSAs for those employees enrolling in qualified high-deductible health plans.
