John Jones Elected to Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy and Dr. Brian Solow Appointed to the Pharmacy & Therapeutic Society
Irvine, Calif. – May 18, 2009 - Prescription Solutions, a pharmacy benefit management company and a UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) organization, today announced that John D. Jones, senior vice president of Professional Practice and Pharmacy Policy, has been elected as the new Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Treasurer; and Brian K. Solow, M.D., vice president and medical director of clinical programs has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Pharmacy & Therapeutic Society (PTS). Effective immediately, both two-year appointments demonstrate Prescription Solutions’ continuing commitment to innovative prescription drug benefits.
Mr. Jones has been closely involved with AMCP, a national professional society dedicated to the concept and practice of pharmaceutical care in managed health care environments, for many years. He has served as a member and chair of committees, as a board member and as a presidential officer. Jones also represents AMCP on the URAC Board of Directors and as chair of the URAC Pharmacy Advisory Group responsible for creation and review of accreditation standards in the pharmacy area. He has more than 30 years of pharmacy practice experience. His pharmacy education was from Idaho State University and he earned his law degree from the University of San Francisco. The AMCP term of service for treasurer is two years.
On the PTS Board of Trustees, Dr. Solow will support and serve professionals concerned with the delivery of high-quality, outcomes-oriented pharmaceutical care in all health care environments. At Prescription Solutions, Dr. Solow is responsible for coordinating clinical activities related to development, enhancement and implementation of clinical programs to support formulary management. Dr. Solow earned his medical degree from New York College of Medicine in Valhalla, NY. He completed a family practice residency at the University of California, Los Angeles/Northridge Hospital Medical Center and maintains current board certification in his specialty. The PTS sitting board elects board members for a two-year term.
