Norwalk, CT – July 21, 2010 – HealthPrize Technologies, a web-based software company that motivates people to fill and stay on their prescription medications, today announced its Advisory Board members. Formed to provide support and direction for the company’s pursuit of addressing the medication adherence issue within the health care industry, the three members offer unmatched experience, insight and innovative thinking to the HealthPrize business model.
The Advisory Board is comprised of experienced business professionals representing diverse areas of commerce. These individuals are utilizing their specific experience and knowledge to help HealthPrize navigate the unpredictable environment of a new business venture that is taking an innovative approach to the medication adherence problem utilizing principles from consumer marketing, behavioral economics, psychology and neuroscience. The Advisory Board’s cross between consumer, pharmaceutical and entrepreneurial experience is aimed at helping the company develop strategies to implement its unique vision in a highly regulated and risk-averse environment.
"We are coming at the medication adherence problem from a very unique angle, and we are extremely fortunate to have such experienced, talented and dedicated individuals whose skills and knowledge offer tremendous value to HealthPrize,” said Tom Kottler, CEO of HealthPrize. “Each member of our advisory board has built multiple businesses in their careers, and each joined the HealthPrize Advisory Board because they saw the potential in ours.”
The Advisory Board members include:
David Duplay, chosen to sit on the board for his experience selling products and services to pharmaceutical marketers from both large company platforms as well as start-up environments, is the president of MedTera Healthcare Intelligence. Duplay has over 25 years of experience in pharmaceutical marketing and is well-recognized for his innovative approaches to developing brand awareness. He was formerly EVP in charge of the Physicians’ Desk Reference.
“The pharmaceutical industry has been battling the compliance issue for years with little success. I believe that HealthPrize’s approach is unmatched in the industry, and will be able to improve pharmaceutical revenues and patient retention through their interactive, online customer engagement platform.”
Robert "Kam" Kamerschen, selected to be a part of the board for his experience with consumer product companies and in marketing to consumers, is the retired CEO and Chairman of Advo, the nation's largest direct mail marketing company. Kamerschen is also a renowned "turnaround" expert who has held critical executive roles within a number of different industries and companies including Chanel, Max Factor, RKO/Six Flags, MCA, and Norton Simon. He has served on multiple boards, including IMS Health, MDC Partners, RadioShack, Vertrue, RH Donnelly and Synavant.
“I am honored to be a part of the HealthPrize advisory board, as I believe their innovative approach to getting people to take their medication is quite unique. With medication non-adherence being the fourth leading cause of death, consumers need a solution such as HealthPrize to get them back on track to a healthy lifestyle. My brother-in-law passed away as a result of medication non-adherence, so like many others, I have a personal stake in helping to solve the medication non-adherence problem. I believe HealthPrize’s approach is the most likely winner in this important field.”
Steven Lindseth, successful serial entrepreneur with a focus on health care was selected to be a part of the board for having built and sold multiple companies that made consumer oriented medical devices, software and services. Lindseth started and sold Axentis (acquired by Walter Kluwer), Complient (acquired by Cardiac Science), Dental Research Corporation (acquired by Bausch & Lomb), and Thermoscan (acquired by Gillette).
“I’ve worked with a number of health care companies in the past, and medication non-adherence continues to become an increasingly large issue. HealthPrize has developed a one-of-a-kind approach utilizing concepts from other areas of business and bringing them into health care to make it fun, interesting and engaging, which is what will make them an industry leader in the adherence space.”
