Medtral New Zealand Ensures High Quality Patient Care with Internationally Accredited Hospitals
Auckland, NZ- June 2, 2008 - With a growing number of international medical travelers concerned about hospital accreditation, Medtral New Zealand (www.medtral.com), a leading health care organization based in New Zealand that coordinates medical travel packages from North America, addresses some of the pressing questions regarding accreditation standards.
Joint Commission International (JCI), an international subsidiary of JACHO, is the USA focused Joint Accreditation Commission for HealthCare Organizations, and is currently leading the global accreditation standards of medical tourism. However, the International Society of Quality Healthcare (ISQua), commonly overlooked, is the umbrella organization that accredits each individual accreditation organization, including the JCI.
"While JCI is an accreditation organization that fulfills ISQua requirements and hence is a member, so indeed are a number of other healthcare accreditation agencies including Quality Health New Zealand, Health Care Accreditation -UK, Australian Council on Health Care Standards, Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation and five other country's accreditation agencies," states Edward Watson, M.D., chairman and founder of Medtral New Zealand. "It therefore makes little sense for healthcare funders and patients alike to consider only international hospitals that are JCI accredited as distinct to hospitals accredited by other members of ISQua."
All of the hospitals used by Medtral New Zealand go through independent accreditation by Quality Health New Zealand (QHNZ), which is accredited by the international umbrella organization ISQua. The hospitals used by Medtral New Zealand are staffed by experienced English speaking doctors and nurses, most with medical training in the United States or Great Britain as well as New Zealand, excelling them to rival the best in the world.
"It is not a sensible option for an ISQua accredited country hospital to be jointly accredited by JCI", points out Dr. Watson. "In effect, this additional accreditation duplicates the hospital's current accreditation processes -- processes that have been approved by an agency that has to conform to the same standards as JCI. While there is no resulting increase in quality outcomes for the patient, there are considerable increases in the time and money expended by the hospital to achieve the accreditation. This is simply wasteful."
Medtral New Zealand offers affordable world-class health care through all-inclusive medical travel packages, coordinating travel, accommodation, hospital procedures and post-operative care at top notch medical facilities which the latest technology. Adhering to QHNZ and ISQua accreditation standards, Medtral New Zealand's network of hospitals provide an unparalleled experience and service for North American patients.
