50 minute coaching session mp3 file

In our first coaching session, Rich expressed his desire to live a "peaceful, harmonious life." While his work is energizing and exciting, the demands also bring feelings of overwhelm and angst.

As a passionate entrepreneur, Rich lives fully and sets high expectations for himself and others. And, while looking to the future with audacious goals enables Rich to reach his greatest potential, it is also serving as a hindrance to appreciating what is happening now.

"I'm trying so hard to achieve flow in my life that I'm missing it," he realizes.

Rich then began to see that the one area which most needed adjustment now was his relationship with his wife. His anxiety around work demands was getting in the way of being appreciative and grateful about not just his work, but his marriage. Our session became a call to practice gratitude at work and home.

And what is gratitude? Psychologist Abraham Maslow described it as the ability to "appreciate again and again, freshly, naively, the basic goods of life with awe, pleasure and wonder."

So, gratitude isn't just a warm feeling, or a "Pollyanna" attitude - it's a choice to intentionally acknowledge the blessings of life. Rich sees gratitude as a path to being more focused, while fostering peace of mind and more contentment. He is re-discovering that he has much to be thankful for, right now.

Adapting an "attitude of gratitude" will encourage him to pay more attention to, and to celebrate, his current successes - as well as the positive attributes of others.

Stay tuned for Rich's reflections on the coaching session...
