The Components of a Vision - Part Two

If you are just joining this series, be sure to go back and read last week's blog, which introduced the concept of a Wellness Vision. This week, we continue with more questions to consider when creating your vision. Think of these questions as a "reality check," questions that better prepare you to go the distance. Set aside uninterrupted time to reflect on them, either in a journal or with someone on your "support" team.

* How large is the gap between where you are today and your wellness vision?
* What significant challenges do you anticipate having to deal with on the way to reaching your vision? What concerns you most? What might be difficult?
* What strengths can you draw on to help you realize your vision and meet your challenges? How can the lessons from your successes in life be used to navigate around
* What people, resources, systems, and environments will you need to help you realize your vision and meet your challenges?
* What strategies may be effective to help you realize your vision and meet your challenges?

Write it Down
Now, you are ready to craft your Wellness Vision, which may be a short as a sentence or a long as a page. What have you learned about your hopes, your motivations, your strengths and the other resources to draw upon when facing challenges?

There is no right or wrong way to write your vision, unless it doesn't really capture your biggest dreams for being your best self. So, be bold, clear, and uninhibited by the "how." Don't talk yourself out of what you hope to become just because you don't know how you'll get there. That will come in the goal setting process, which we'll introduce next week...
