Just yesterday I was listening to a program on public radio that talked about different learning styles and it came to me that signature strengths are somewhat the same.
We approach the adventure that is life in different ways. If we are aware of what our strengths are, and make use of them, the road we travel might be a little smoother.
A little like swimming with the current of a river rather than battling our way upstream. So the exploration of how I might put these strengths to even more use will go on.
When I first considered my strengths, I found myself focusing on the areas that were not my strongest points and thinking I'd be a better person if I had other strenghts.
I guess I was thinking that the strengths I had didn't seem to relate much to work. They seemed more like "nicey -nice" strengths, helpful with friends and family but not so much with work.
What I came away with is that my strengths have contributed in large part to the success I've had at work. I saw specific examples of how I put them to use in my daily life and how they help me accomplish things that are important to me. I also came away with the desire to explore how those strengths might help me to develop some of the strengths that do not come as naturally.
Thanks for the coaching session.
Warm regards,
Pat
